HOW TO APPLY

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Announcement: New Letter of Inquiry (LOI) Process

We are excited to announce the launch of our new Letter of Inquiry (LOI) process. To streamline the application process, organizations interested in applying for grants can now submit an LOI through our new online form, available here. Please note that portal login is not required to submit this initial LOI form.

Eligibility

  • 501 (c)(3): Only organizations with current tax-exempt status under the Internal Revenue Service Code Section 501(c)(3) are eligible for funding.
  • Geographic Focus: Funding is restricted to projects serving Los Angeles County.
  • Program Focus: We fund Direct Service programs specifically serving youth from underserved communities.

Letter of Inquiry

LOIs are accepted year round and are reviewed in the order they are received.

If we determine from your LOI that your request is consistent with our funding priorities and interests, you may be asked to participate in a conference call with DSYF staff to further refine your request and clarify questions we may have about your letter.

During the conference call, if we decide that your organization’s objectives and activities clearly match our criteria, you will be asked to submit a full proposal and application materials will be emailed to you at that time. Unsolicited full proposals are not accepted.

Re-Application Procedures

You can reapply for a grant with a new LOI any time after your final report due date AND after you have submitted your final report.

We do not have a preference for a new or different program than what we have previously funded. We encourage organizations to ask for what you need as long as it fits within our funding focus areas.

For organizations that have been declined, please contact DSYF before you reapply.
