Board members are the fiduciaries who steer the organization towards a sustainable future by adopting sound, ethical, and legal governance and financial management policies, as well as by making sure the nonprofit has adequate resources to advance its mission. This session covers the board’s roles and responsibilities. Topics to be covered in the workshop include: The role of the nonprofit board of directors, Stages of boards, The Fiduciary responsibilities of a nonprofit board member, Compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry practices, The purpose and function of the organization bylaws in board governance, Ensure the nonprofit adheres to its stated corporate purposes/mission, Leveraging zones of genius to intentionally recruit board members, The roadmap for ensuring the organization’s financial sustainability and Serving as ambassadors and advocates. The workshop will be led by Amber Wynn, MSPA.
